Taro Tanaka joins Miura & Partners

We are pleased to announce that Mr. Taro Tanaka joined Miura & Partners as a partner on November 1, 2024.

Taro brings over a decade of extensive experience in global dispute resolution, international law, and advocacy on LGBT and gender issues.

Taro started his legal career at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto before moving to Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Tokyo where he handled a wide range of global investigations and dispute resolution cases. He has also been an active member of the Lawyers for LGBT & Allies Network (LLAN), playing a key role in promoting understanding and inclusion of LGBT issues in Japan.
After earning his L.L.M. in International Legal Studies from New York University as a Fulbright Scholar, Taro held positions at the United Nations, including at the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the UN Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict (OSRSG-SVC). There, he worked on some of the most complex and sensitive human rights cases on a global stage.
Most recently, Taro served as Legal Advisor for the Rohingya Crisis Programme at Legal Action Worldwide (an NGO based in Geneva), where he represented Rohingya survivors in international legal proceedings, including at the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
As a partner at Miura & Partners, Taro will continue to provide strategic legal solutions for clients facing complex cross-border challenges, with a focus on business and human rights, as well as global dispute resolution.
